"Director Ralston Jover Directs International Award-Winner Allen Dizon As A Deaf Mute In 'Bomba' & As A Blind Man In 'Persons Of Interest' Director Ralston Jover Has An Entry In"

DIRECTOR RALSTON JOVER has an entry in the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, “Hamog”, about street children who become petty criminals. It won the Oustanding Achievement Award in Shanghai Filmfest and the best actress award for Teri Malvar at the Moscow Filmfest last year, both A list international festivals. His latest film, “Bomba”, about the unusual relationship of a deaf mute, Allen Dizon, with a 16-year old girl, Angeli Sanoy, is now an entry in another international filmfest in Warsaw, Poland.

Ralston wrote two other films for Brillante, “Manoro, The Teacher” and “Tirador”, before directing his first movie for Cinemalaya in 2009, “Bakal Boys”, about Tondo boys who dive for metal scraps as a living. It won the best screenplay award at the Skip City Digital Cinema Filmfest in Japan and the best picture in the 2010 Asian Connection Filmfest in France. After this, he directed “Bendor” for Cinema One starring Vivian Velez in the title role.

Even if “Bomba” is yet to be shown, Ralston is starting to shoot another movie starring Allen Dizon titled “Persons of Interest”. “While we were shooting ‘Bomba’, we were exchanging stories with producers Dennis Evangelista and Ferdie Lapus and I mentioned this story of a blind man who becomes a person of interest or suspect in the death of his own wife, a much older woman. Sabi agad nila, sige, gawin na natin yan. Ayan nga, magsu-shoot na kami.”

In the story, Allen Dizon is the blind man whose first wife abandoned him and left for Japan. Now, his wife wants to get their son, played by JJ Quilantang (the boy who played the young Daniel Padilla in “Luna Sangre”). He has found new love in Liza Lorena, a widow who owns a restaurant where he works a cook. When Liza dies of food poisoning, her daughter, Dimples Romana, accuses Allen of killing her mother. During the court trials, flashbacks will show how the romance between Allen and Liza developed.

“Actually, Allen plays a dual role in the movie,” says Ralston. “Kasi yung anak niya, may imaginary friend who looks exactly like his dad, but not blind. May big twist in the end where the boy will prove that his dad is not the killer.”

Also in the cast are Nela Dizon as Dimples’ teenage daughter who flirts with older men, Cecille Yumul as the oldest waitress in the restaurant (she played Allen’s mom in “Area”) and Romeo Lindain as a lawyer. Mr. Lindain co-produces the movie with real estate magnate Bobby Alvarez.

Allen is really so busy with so many acting jobs these days. He currently appears in TV5’s crime-drama series, “Amo”, directed by Brillante Mendoza, shown every Sunday night. Aside from “Bomba” where he plays a deaf mute, he’s now about to wrap up work for a new movie, “Right to Kill”, also directed by Brillante.

He’ll soon start to shoot “Persons of Interest” and by September, he will shoot a new movie for Director Aureus Solito to be shot on location in Palawan with Assunta de Rossi and Sue Prado. Only “Bomba” will be released this year. All his other films are slated to be released in 2018.

PBB Teens 4 Winner Myrtle Sarrosa, The Face Of Microsoft's Sisters Feminine Napkins, Now Doing Two New Movies With Regal Entertainment

MYRTLE SARROSA started as a cosplayer who became the big winner of PBB Teens 4 in 2012. A singer, songwriter, host and actress, she juggled showbiz and her studies and finally graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast communications from UP.

“It wasn’t easy,” she says. “It took me six years before I finally graduated. There were times when I doubted myself and just wanted to give up. But with the help of God, my family, my professors and workmates, I finally graduated and it’s all worth it.”

She has since appeared in various TV shows like “Forevermore”, “Ang Probinsyano”, “Super D”, “Your Face Sounds Familiar” and the latest was in “La Luna Sangre” where she played a vampire. Isn’t she getting impatient with the slow progress of her career in showbiz?

“Before, I was really wondering bakit mabagal ang takbo ng career ko. But I realized it’s not good for me to compare myself with other PBB winners na sumikat agad, like Kim Chiu, kasi iba-iba ang paths namin. I think may ibang plans si God para sa akin. It’s a matter of proper timing. Right now, I’m happy to be doing two new movies for Regal Entertainment.”

She’s the ambassadress of Megasoft Hygienic Products, makers of Sisters, and she just renewed her contract with them for two years. During her first year as endorser, they visited 33 schools all over the country to give recognition to outstanding teachers, students and to lecture about menstrual hygiene awareness. Why did they choose Myrtle to be the face of Sisters Feminine Napkins?

“Myrtle is the ideal role model for the youth kasi kahit she’s busy with showbiz work, yet she really tried hard to get a college degree,” says Aileen Choi Go, Microsoft VP for Marketing. “Magkasama kami in visiting schools around the country and she’s always professional. Masaya siyang kasama kahit 3 AM ang flight namin. I see her studying sa plane and sa hotel just to achieve her goal of graduating with honors. She’s very articulate and easily connects with the students kapag nagsasalita siya. She can really inspire young people to value the importance of education.”

Myrtle’s last boyfriend was Brian Llamanzares, son of Sen. Grace Poe. Has she found a new love since they broke up? “Marami namang kumakatok sa pinto namin, non-showbiz, and I entertain them, pero wala pa akong sinasagot. Right now, aside from the movies I’m doing, I’m also busy hosting a show on new animes on Hero TV. I really want to focus on my career muna and someday be a broadcast journalist.”

Myrtle will be in Cebu on September 16, 10 AM, at the Megasoft Warehouse in Mandaue City, to be shown on Facebook Live, then she’ll be at Gaisano Grand Dumanjug Mall at 4 PM and Gaisano Grand Moalboal at 6PM with co-endorser for Cherub, Kristoff Garcia, who’ll be in Puerto Princesa on September 26 and Isetan Recto Manila on September 29. Keep up with their other activities on Facebook@sistersph and Instagram @megasoft_ph.

Cavaliers send Kyrie Irving to Celtics for Isaiah Thomas in Blockbuster Trade (VIDEO)

Celtics Acquire Four-Time All-Star Kyrie Irving in four-player deal

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Celtics announced today that they have acquired four-time All-Star and 2016 NBA Champion Kyrie Irving from the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for guard Isaiah Thomas, forward Jae Crowder, center Ante Zizic and the rights to the Brooklyn Nets’ 2018 first round pick.

“Kyrie is one of the best scorers in the NBA. He has proven that on the biggest stage, the NBA Finals, the last three years,” said Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge. “He’s been an NBA Champion, an Olympic Gold Medalist, and a four-time All-Star. For all he’s accomplished, we think his best years are ahead of him.”

“Isaiah and Jae have been a huge part of our success,” said Celtics Co-Owner and Governing Partner Wyc Grousbeck. “Isaiah’s playoff performance under very difficult circumstances will live on in history, and we wish them all the best.”

Selected by Cleveland with the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, Irving, 25, has posted career averages of 21.6 points (45.7% FG, 38.3% 3-PT, 87.3% FT), 3.4 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.32 steals and 34.2 minutes in 381 games (all starts) throughout six seasons with the Cavaliers. The 6-3 guard has registered a scoring average north of 20.0 points in four of his six NBA seasons, including a career-high 25.2 points in 2016-17.

Irving played a vital role in helping Cleveland capture its first NBA title in 2016, averaging 25.2 points on 47.5% shooting (44.0% 3-PT), and 4.7 assists during the Cavaliers 21-game playoff run to history. He scored a postseason-high 41 points on 17-of-24 shooting (5-7 3-PT) in a win against the Warriors in Game 5 of the NBA Finals that season, one of 18 games in which the Duke product logged at least 20 points. In three career postseason appearances, all of which resulted in trips to the NBA Finals, Irving has averaged 23.9 points (46.5% FG, 41.5% 3-PT, 87.6% FT), 3.1 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.46 steals and 36.4 minutes in 52 games.

In parts of three seasons with the Celtics, Thomas averaged 24.7 points (44.3% FG, 36.8% 3-PT, 88.9% FT), 2.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists. Crowder produced 12.8 points (44.4% FG, 35.3% 3-PT, 80.4% FT), 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists in parts of three seasons in Boston.

“Isaiah embodied what it meant to be a Celtic. He captured fans’ hearts not only with his spirit, but his personality,” said Ainge. “Jae’s toughness was contaigious for our team. He improved his skills each year, but it’s his energy and fight that will be remembered. We wish them and their families the very best.”
