Derrick Monasterio Excited To Shoot 'Almost A Love Story' With Barbie Forteza In Italy, Says Barbie's BF Jak Roberto Doesn't Need To Get Jealous

DERRICK MONASTERIO left last night for Italy to do a movie, “Almost a Love Story”, with Barbie Forteza. With them in their retinue are Director Louie Ignacio, co-stars Anna Capri as his mom and Lotlot de Leon as Barbie’s mom, and producer Dennis Evangelista. Of course, he’s excited to go as it’s his first trip to Italy.

“Traveling is the best way to broaden one’s horizons and I know going to Rome, Venice and Trecase in Italy will be a great experience for me,” he says.

He’s also happy to be reunited with Barbie Forteza. “First movie namin ito na magkapareha, but we’ve worked before on TV sa ‘Anna Karenina’ and ‘Half Sisters’. It’s always a pleasure working with Barbie kasi napakagaling niyang artista. Tawa lang nang tawa, pero kapag take na, biglang serious drama na agad, kaya madadala ka kapag kayo ang magkaeksena.”

Their Derbie love team seems to have its own set of supporters, but off cam, it’s common knowledge that Barbie is on with Jak Roberto, the Pambansang Abs. Won’t Jak get jealous now that Barbie and he will be all alone in Italy?

“Bakit naman siya magseselos? Barbie and I naman won’t be sharing the same hotel rooms in Italy. Also, kasama niya ang handler niya at kasama ko ang handler ko para chaperons namin. Yung sa amin, close friendship lang talaga. Kahit matagal kaming di nagkasama after ‘Half Sisters’, kapag nagkikita kami, ang bonding namin, ganun pa rin. So yun.”

In “Almost a Love Story”, he grows up in Italy and Barbie grows up in Manila, but they always talk to each other through video calls because Barbie’s mom, Lotlot de Leon, is Derrick’s yaya in Italy.

“So lumaki kaming magkakilala kahit magkalayo kami. Then pupunta siya to visit her mom in Italy, and finally, we will meet each other in person.”

Will they have a kissing scene? “As of now, we don’t know yet. Pero bahala na po si Direk Louie Ignacio. Sa’kin, okay lang naman, pero si Barbie, di pa yata ready sa ganyan. Palagay ko, sa ganda nung story, tatayo naman ang movie kahit walang kissing scene. Basta gagalingan namin ang acting namin sa bawat eksena para masulit ang ibabayad ng viewers.”

Gabby Concepcion Proud That 'Ika-6 Na Utos' Celebrated Its First Anniversary On The Air, Talks About Possibility Of Making New Movie With Sharon Cuneta

GABBY CONCEPCION, Sunshine Dizon and Ryza Cenon are grinning from ear to ear when we visited them at Celebrity Sports Plaza since everyone is congratulating them. Their afternoon show, “Ika-6 na Utos”, just celebrated it’s first anniversary last week and the ratings remain consistently high. 8.9 recently, which is very high for an afternoon show. It now also has the distinction of being the only soap being shown from Monday to Saturday.

“Everywhere I go now, people call me Jerome or Rome, my name in the story,” says Gabby. “At si Sunshine, Emma ang tawag sa kanya, samantalang si Ryza naman, kinamumuhian bilang Georgia. Ang bonus pa rito, nanalo kami ng international awards for this show. Ako, in Korea at si Sunshine, sa Gawad America. Tapos, all of us won sa 7th OFW Gawad Parangal. Kami ni Shine, best actor and actress and best supporting actress si Ryza. We’re really happy kasi hindi lang toprater ang show namin kundi award-winner pa.”

“At huwag kayong bibitaw dahil sa pagtatapos ng ‘Ika-6 na Utos’ in the next few months, marami pang pasabog na magaganap,” adds Sunshine. “We would like to give credit to our writers and director Laurice Guillen for being so imaginative in coming out with the most intriguing, engaging twists of plots para palaging tumutok sa bawat episode ng ‘Ika-6 na Utos’ ang viewers.”

We ask Gabby if he’d be ready to do his reunion movie with Sharon Cuneta after “Ika-6 Utos” ends? “I think we all need to talk again. As of now, I’m still enjoying doing this show immensely. Sa buong career ko, I can say ito ang most successful teleserye ko. But I’m very happy for her and Robin (Padilla) sa success ng movie nila.”

What can he say about Robin’s statement that he’s actually just a replacement for him? “That’s not true. Kanya talaga yun. Iba yung story for us ni Sharon, iba rin yung sa kanila.”

Taping for “Ika-6 na Utos” will temporarily stop on December 18. “We’ll have a two-week Christmas break, so I will take my wife and daughters for a vacation in the States.”

Dawn Zulueta Happy To Be Reunited With Vic Sotto & Working With Young Stars Of Both Top Networks Together In 'Meant To Beh'

DAWN ZULUETA says M-Zet Productions didn’t have a hard time convincing her to do comedy in the filmfest entry, “Meant to Beh”. “In 2015, I did ‘Love Affair’ with Richard Gomez and in 2016, ‘Love Me Tomorrow’ with Piolo Pascual, na parehong drama, so I really welcome the chance to do comedy naman with Vic Sotto,” says Dawn, who’s 48 but looks much younger than her age. “Maski sa teleseryes, puro iyakan ang ginagawa ko, so gusto ko naman sumubok ng comedy, lalo na si Bossing Vic ang kapareha ko na sa TV ko pa lang nakatrabaho before in ‘Okay Ka Fairy Ko’ ages ago. I’m grateful naalala nga ako ni Bossing dahil na-miss ko rin siya.”

She also welcomes working with a young director. “First time ko ring makatrabaho ang director namin ditong si Chris Martinez and he’s definitely one of our more talented young filmmakers today. Wholesome and heartwarming ang buong movie na puedeng panoorin ng buong pamilya. First time ko ring makasama ang stars ng both two top networks dito, with JC Santos, Gabbi Garcia and Baeby Baste as our children, kasama sina Andrea Torres, Daniel Matsunaga, Sue Ramirez, and Ruru Madrid na first time napagsama-sama in one movie. They’re all very professional and very talented kaya ang wish ko, maging blockbuster sana itong ‘Meant to Beh’ para magkaroon ng Part 2 at makasali uli kami next year.”

Didn’t the actors from different networks feel uncomfortable while shooting together? “Sabi nga noon, baka magkailangan o magkahiyaan sila, pero hindi naman. I think we were all just excited to work together, kasi dati naman, walang boundaries ang mga artista because of network affiliations. Ako, I used to work with everyone. I worked with Viva, with Regal, with all companies and all co-stars, walang problema to be paired with anyone. Sa bagay, I come from a different era na wala pang social media. Today, the fans and almost everyone feel they have the right para panghimasukan ang careers and private lives ng mga artista because of instagram or twitter. Everyone can bash anyone and they’re all very negative, which is sad kasi it’s not really helping the industry. Before, we’re just one big family. E, ngayon, kanya-kanya na, kampo-kampo na. So support our movie, ‘Meant to Beh’, kasi bihira magkasama-sama ang mga artista from different networks. Let’s have unity, not division, dahil Christmas season naman ngayon.”

MEET “FERDINAND”: THE INSPIRING BULL THAT ISN’T A BULLY

Wrestling superstar John Cena lends voice to the gentlest bull that will soon capture everyone’s hearts on January 8 in “Ferdinand” – a giant bull who prefers flowers to fighting.

Today’s generation can enjoy the delightful CG-animated film based on the 1936 book “The Story of Ferdinand” by author Munro Leaf and illustrator Robert Lawson, a warm and charming take on how appearances can be deceptive (or, why you should never judge a bull by its cover…) the book’s message of love and acceptance has resonated for decades.

Directed by Academy Award nominee Carlos Saldanha, creator and director of the Rio series and director of many of the Ice Age movies, “Ferdinand” centers on the adventures of a peace-loving bull (voiced by John Cena), who is adopted by a loving farmer and daughter. However, his idyllic life changes after he’s mistaken for a vicious beast and is taken away to the last place on earth he wants to be, a bull training camp. But Ferdinand is determined to get back home. Along the way, the kind-hearted bull makes many friends and changes the lives of those he meets. But there still one great obstacle he’ll have to overcome… in the film’s thrilling climactic scene, Ferdinand has to face the matador El Primero in a packed arena, but he valiantly stays true to his peaceful nature, and inspires all those around him.

Casting the right actors and actresses to voice the wide variety of memorable characters of the movie was one of the most important steps in realizing the director’s and producers’ vision. Thanks to the efforts of veteran casting director Christian Kaplan, who has been responsible for finding the voices for many of the Fox/Blue Sky Studios features for the past 14 years, “Ferdinand” features an eclectic voice cast that includes John Cena (Ferdinand), Kate McKinnon (Lupe), David Tennant (Angus), Gina Rodriguez (Una), Peyton Manning (Guapo), Bobby Cannavale (Valiente), Anthony Anderson (Bones), Jerrod Carmichael (Paco), Flula Borg (Hans), Daveed Diggs (Dos), Raúl Esparza (Moreno), Sally Phillips (Greta), Boris Kodjoe (Klaus) and Gabriel Iglesias (Cuatro).

Adds Saldanha: “For this movie, we were delighted to have John Cena as our main character. We wanted the voice to reflect someone who was strong and gentle at the same time. He looks tough on the outside, but has a big heart inside – a true gentle giant. He really grounded the character with his own persona, you can’t help fall in love with the unique way he brings Ferdinand to life.”

20th Century Fox’s 2018 opener, “Ferdinand” opens January 8 in PH cinemas nationwide to be distributed by Warner Bros.

JENNYLYN MERCADO WOULD RATHER NOT ALLOW BF DENNIS TRILLO TO WATCH HER DARING LOVE SCENES WITH DEREK RAMSAY IN 'ALL OF YOU'

jennylyn mercado and derek ramsay sizzle in ALL OF YOU, produced by Atty. Joji Alonso of Quantum Films, directed by Dan Villegas, open on Christmas Day in theaters nationwide.
JENNYLYN MERCADO is so pleased that this early, some quarters are predicting she’d win another best actress award in the coming Metro filmfest for her entry, ‘All of You’, but she wouldn’t bank on it. “Dapat, mapanood muna yung ibang entries bago magsalita ng ganyan,” she says. “But still, salamat sa tiwala nila sa’kin kasi compared to my other two films where I won awards before, ‘English Only, Please’ and ‘Walang Forever’, mas mature talaga at mas challenging ang papel na ginampanan ko rito sa ‘All of You’. Medyo takot magmahal yung character ko rito kasi galing sa isang masakit na relationship. E, hindi naman ako ganun, kahit naranasan ko na rin yung masaktan. Ito na rin yung pinaka-daring na ginawa ko in terms of love scenes with Derek Ramsay. Tinodo ko na rito. I trusted our director, Dan Villegas, alam ko namang in good taste at hindi laswaan lang lalabas ang bedscenes namin.”
Will her current BF Dennis Trillo watch it with her? “Tinimbrihan ko na siya at sabi niya, hindi raw siya manonood para hindi siya mailang. At okay na rin sa’kin yun, para hindi rin ako mailang.”
Jen says 2018 has been a good year for her, on and off cam. She’s now in better terms with Patrick Garcia, the dad of her love son Alex Jazz.
“Thanks to him and his wife, si Nikka, na napakabait at very supportive kay  Alex,” she says. “Nikka is very understanding. Everytime na dalawin nila si Alex, buong family sila, kasama ang daughters nila, so lumalaki si Alex na close sa dad niya, stepmom and his sisters.”
Is Alex also close to her current BF, Dennis Trillo? “Yes,  Tito ang tawag niya kay Dennis at naglalaro sila.”
How about to Dennis’ own love son, Calix? “Bihira namin siyang makita. Pag may okasyon lang like kung birthday niya at ngayon, Christmas and New Year.”
So will they be going away this holiday season? “No, I have to promote my entry, ‘All of You’, may parade of stars pa and may awards night na required kami to attend so hindi puedeng umalis.”

EDGAR ALLAN GUZMAN PREDICTED BUT NOT EXPECTING TO WIN AN AWARD FOR HIS FLAMBOYANT GAY ROLE IN 'DEDMA WALKING'

EDGAR ALLAN GUZMAN or EA first gained fame when he won the title in the Mr. Pogi contest of “Eat Bulaga” in 2006. He has since worked not only with GMA-7 but also with TV5 and ABS-CBN. He’s now back to being a Kapuso playing the role of Ryan in “My Korean Jagiya”. “He started as parang contravida kay Heart Evangelista but lately, bumait na siya,” he says. “Hanggang February pa raw kami extended.”
He has also done several films and won the Cinemalaya and Golden Screen best actor awards in 2011 for his fine portrayal of the lead character in the indie film, “Ligo na U, Lapit na Me”. He currently plays one of the two lead roles in the Metro-Manila Filmfest entry, “Dedma Walking”, where he and Joross Gamboa play gay best friends.
“I’ve played gay roles several times before, sa movies in ‘I Do Bidoo’ and ‘Working Beks’, sa TV in two episodes of ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’,” he says. “But this is the loudest gay character I’ve played so far, flamboyant talaga siya, malandyi. I’m a theatre actor here na part ng Crying Divas, with Ricci Chan and Jojit Lorenzo as mga kasama ko sa grupo ng drag performers. Iniipit ko ang manhood ko kapag nagpe-perform kaming naka-gown at sobrang hirap pala noon. Best friend ko si Joross and when he learned he’s dying, ako ang kinasabwat niya to stage his fake death and wake para malaman niya ang tunay na feelings ng mga tao about him sa eulogy para sa kanya.”
Those who’ve seen the film says he’s really good. Does he expect to win another acting award for this?
“No. I would like to win kasi matagal na since the last time I won for the stage play ‘Bona’ sa Aliw Awards. I miss the feeling nung nananalo ka, but I’m not expecting to win. Basta I did my best at bahala na ang jurors.”
It’s easy for him to play a gay role since he has a gay brother in real life. “I love him and respect him so much. I’m really proud of him. Through him, I’ve known how a gay person truly loves and nalaman ko rin kung paano tanggapin at mahalin ang isang gay.”
He used to clash a lot with his manager, Noel Ferrer, about his girlfriend then at TV5, Shaira Mae de la Cruz, but they’ve since broken up.
“I have no lovelife now. I want to devote all my time sa career ko kasi nagpapagawa ako ng bagong bahay. Hopefully, by next year, makalipat kami ng family ko sa aming new house. I realized na tama ang manager ko, no need na magmadali sa lovelife at marami pang ibang opportunities na darating for me.”

NEW DIRECTOR FRANK LLOYD MAMARIL ALL SET TO MAKE HIS FIRST FULL LENGTH MOVIE IN 2018 FOR HIS OWN COMPANY, FLM CREATIVES INC.

direk frank mamaril: solo photo and with movie writers who he treated to lunch: joebar, gie trillana, dondon sermino, and the beautiful, titillating, sariwa at kaakit-akit na si rodel fernando
DIRECTOR FRANK LLOYD MAMARIL is best known as a concert director. His Lani Misalucha “Love Concert” won as the best concert of the year from the PMPC Star Awards for Music last year. He has also directed concerts of Regine Velasquez, Martin Nievera, Julie Anne San Joe, Morisette and the 2013 Miss World Pageant.
A UST masscomm graduate, he rose up the ranks at ABS-CBN as a production assistant, reseacher until he started directing life style shows about fashion like, MetroWear Series and Jewelmer’s Dress Mapping. He did quality videos for ABS-CBN Publishing and eventually put up his own company, FLM Creatives Inc. that makes videos for TV, events and new media.
He trained his own team of people to create the brand he has in mind. His passion for video and TV production brought him to Italy and Belgium to produce a TV special and also helped him create a credible name in the industry, earning the trust of clients and making their company’s portfolio grow profitably.
When his company started, he said he will never go into making his own movies, but it was Boss Vic del Rosario who advised him: “Hindi ka talaga makikilala unless gumawa ka ng pelikula.”
So now, he intends to go into film production this 2018 to make him a true Multi-Media Director. He already has the script for a rom-com about a love story that is affected by social media and technology, something very now and very millennial. We tell him it will be an uphill battle for him since the big stars are with the top networks and he also doesn’t have yet the machinery to produce, market, distribute and promote an entire movie.
He says he is aware of that, so here’s wishing him the best of luck as he embark on a new aspect of his career as a movie producer and director for next year. To help young people, he teaches filmmaking at College of St. Benilde and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela. “I want to train students and young people on how to appreciate film and later help in making them,” he says.

JON LUCAS OF HASHTAGS GETS HIS BIGGEST MOVIE ROLE IN REGAL'S METRO FILMFEST ENTRY, 'HAUNTED FOREST'

JON LUCAS is a member of Showtime’s Hashtag who turned 22 last August 18. He was introduced as part of Star Magic Circle 2013 and he has appeared doing supporting roles in soaps like “Kahit Konting Pagtingin”, “Got to Believe”, “Be Careful with My Heart” and “We Will Survive”. He has also appeared in movies like “Just the Way You Are” and the Fil-Korean movie, “You and Me”, but he is now given his biggest break as one of the lead stars or Regal’s Metro Filmfest entry, “Haunted Forest”. “This is my first horror movie and very challenging pala gumawa nito,” he says. “May pagka-action din kasi at may scenes na hinahagis-hagis kami nung monster called Sitsit at naka-harness ako. Kapag tinabig ako ng halimaw, tumitilapon ako kaya naka-harness para malayo talaga ang bagsak ko. Ang lakas ng impact ha! Medyo masakit, lalo kapag paulit-ulit ang shots, pero safe naman kasi inaalagaan kami ng co-stars ng buong production team.”
He’s happy and proud to be part of “Haunted Forest”. “When we shot this, di namin alam na makakapasok pala ito sa Metro Filmfest kaya sobrang tuwa naming naging official entry kami. Fan ako ng horror movies, e. Yung ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll’ series ng Regal, marami kong napanood doon. And now, kami na ang entry this Christmas kaya tuwang-tuwa kami ng co-stars kong sina Jane Oineza, Maris Racal and my co-hashtag members na si Jameson Blake. So we’re all excited, pati sa pagsakay namin sa float sa parade of stars.”
What can he say about the success of Jameson who’s now doing several movies? “He deserves it na sobrang dami ng movies na ginagawa niya and I’m happy for him kasi kapag pinapanood ko siya, napakagaling talaga niyang artista. Lahat kami sa Hastags, happy para sa kanya.”
Jon is still grieving from the death of his mom last September when his friend in Hashtags, Franco Hernandez, died in a drowning incident in Davao a few weeks ago. “Sobrang nakakalungkot kasi pero I just pray to the Lord,” he says.
How did he feel when a basher said it should have been him who died and not Franco. “Siempre, masakit. Ano bang naging kasalanan ko sa kanya? Pero ipinagdasal ko na lang at salamat sa friends ko like si Vice Ganda na nagtanggol sa akin.”

ANDREA TORRES TRIES TO SEDUCE VIC SOTTO AWAY FROM HIS WIFE, HAPPY TO HAVE A METRO FILMFEST ENTRY IN 'MEANT TO BEH'

ANDREA TORRES is very thankful that Vic Sotto got her to be part of the cast of his M-Zet Productions’ Metro filmfest entry, “Meant to Beh”. “Big blessing ito for me na makasama siya sa movie at si Ms. Dawn Zulueta and all the other stars in the cast na ngayon ko lang nakatrabaho,” she says. “Excited nga akong sumakay sa float namin para sa Parade of Stars to herald in the filmfest.”
Most of her scenes are with Bossing Vic himself. “Magkasama kami dito sa trabaho at malaki ang crush ko sa kanya kaya natuwa ako nang malaman kong maghihiwalay sila ng wife niyang si Ms. Dawn. Si Daniel Matsunaga naman, hoping na matuloy nga ang separation nila para maligawan niya si Ms. Dawn, but the kids nina Bossing na sina JC Santos, Gabby Garcia and Baeby Baste will do everything para mag-reconcile ang mga magulang nila. Masaya ang pelikula at bagay na bagay sa kapaskuhan kasi it’s really for the whole family.”
How would she assess the passing year in her life and career? “Sa kabuuan, maganda naman.  I did
‘Alyas Robin Hood 2’ with Dingdong Dantes at heto, may movie pa ako. Nagbago ako ng management and moved to GMA Artist Center. It’s better to forgive than magkimkim ka ng galit.”
So what’s her next project with GMA-7 for 2018? “So far, wala pa, but I will take advantage of the break at magta-travel kami ng family ko. Balak kong ipasyal sila sa Japan, then sa Guam para bisitahin yung brother kong based doon. Gusto ko ring magpunta sa Australia at sa Maldives kasi they have such nice beaches at gusto kong mag-pose doon nang nakabikini then ipo-post ko sa social media. Sasamantalalahin ko na habang hindi pa ako busy with a new assignment.”
How about her lovelife? “It’s not a priority. Hindi naman hinahanap yan. Kusang dumarating, bahala na si Lord.”

'MAYNILA', SATURDAY MORNING DRAMA HOSTED BY CONG. LITO ATIENZA, WINS THREE AWARDS WITH HIS DAUGHTER LEI ATIENZA-VALDEPENAS AS PRODUCER

BUHAY PARTY LIST Cong. Lito Atienza is very proud because his Saturday morning show, “Maynila”, a drama anthology that depicts the lives of people living in the city of Manila, just won three awards: the Star Award for the longest running daytime drama, the Catholic Mass Media Award and the Inding-Indie Award held recently at the National  Press Club.
“We’re really proud of these recognitions,” says Cong. Atienza. “19 years na sa ere ang ‘Maynila’ and we’re proud that both Kapuso and Kapamilya stars can guest in our show. From Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Dennis Trillo to Coco Martin, Angel Locsin, Enrique Gil, Erich Gonzales at marami pang ibang big stars, lahat sila naging bahagi ng ‘Maynila’.”
The producer of “Maynila” is now her daughter Lei Atienza, who’s married to former Los Banos councilor Von Valdepenas and they have three kids aged 10, 7 and 2. Lei used to be with ABS-CBN’s Star Circle but she quickly realized showbiz is not for her. She’s proud that the awards for “Maynila” all came when she was already its producer, with Abet Raz as scriptwriter and Phil Noble as director.
“The show used to be meant for teen viewers but we’ve notice that the market has changed,” says Lei. “Most of our viewers now are mothers and their children. Our highest rating episode is about a woman who falls in love with a much younger man and the episode that won us awards featured Noel Trinidad as an old man suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. We always try to promote good values about love, lie and marriage in each episode.”
Cong. Lito Atienza has very conservative views and he is against divorce and same sex marriage. But for the film industry, he has sponsored a bill for a five-year tax exemption of the local film industry and this is about to be approved.
As a gift to the press, Cong. Lito raffled off 8 free overnight stay at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bagac, Bataan which is now a famous tourist destination. We’re one of the lucky ones who won. The owner of Las Casas is a ‘balae’ of Cong. Lito because his son Ali is married to the owner’s daughter, Jet Acuzar.

POWER COUPLE DPWH SEC. MARK VILLAR AND REP. EMMELINE AGLIPAY OF DIWA PARTYLIST BARE THEIR LATEST PROJECTS FOR 2018

DPWH SECRETARY MARK VILLAR and his wife Diwa Partylist Rep. Emmeline Aglipay hosted an intimate Christmas lunch for the entertainment press. Rep. Emmie happily reported that her book, “Living Better with Lupus”, is sold out in many bookstores as doctors themselves recommend it to their patients. Barangay health workers also read it so they can help in the early and correct diagnosis of the disease among lupus patients.
Emmie is also having a Hope for Lupus Fun Run this coming January and she’s inviting everyone to join it.This is her advocacy as she’s a lupus patient herself and she wans to educate Pinoys about this auto-immune disease that nearly crippled her. She credits her husband Mark for her recovery and always reminding her to live a stress-free life as stress is a big enemy of lupus. When you see her, you won’t suspect she has lupus as she looks so pretty.
In turn, Sec. Mark showed an audio-visual presentation about their projects at the DPWH that aims to alleviate the nightmarish traffic situation at EDSA. “Maraming bagong kalsadang bubuksan to be used as alternative routes, like the Laguna Lake Highway from Pasig to Bicutan, the new skyway, the road connecting SLEX to  NLEX, the Harbor Link from the piers to NLEX na hindi na daraan sa Manila the 40,000 trucks that use our roads everyday para lumuwag ang EDSA,” he says. “Yung expressway going to Baguio, hanggang sa Pozorubio, Pangasinan na ngayon. Dati, hanggang Binalonan lang.  And soon, hanggang sa Rosario, La Union na yan kaya mas mabilis na mag-drive to Baguio. May flood management projects din to prevent severe flooding sa lungsod. Pres. Duterte is very serious about this and we have a budget of P100 billion for all the infrastructures we’re now building. We have 12 new bridges to cross EDSA. He’s very hardworking, sincere, and by the time matapos ang term niya, ibang-iba na at maraming pagbabago sa Pilipinas kasi marami ring plans for new roads to ease traffic in Cebu,  Bacolod and Mindanao to usher in the golden age of infrastructure in our country.”

BARBIE FORTEZA LEAVING THIS WEDNESDAY TO SHOOT 'ALMOST A LOVE STORY' ON LOCATION IN ITALY WITH DERRICK MONASTERIO

BARBIE FORTEZA is waiting for her latest assignment with GMA-7 after the hit “Meant to Be”. “Habang wala pa, heto, may offer to do a new movie, ‘Almost a Love Story’, and I will be paired with Derrick Monasterio na nakapareha ko na before on TV in ‘Anna Karenina’ and ‘The Half Sisters’,” she says. “Ang maganda sa movie, we will shoot it on location Italy. Aalis na kami this coming Wednesday at more than one week kami magsu-shoot roon, to be produced by BG Productions and directed by Louie Ignacio. Second time ko na to work with them kasi sila rin ang producer and director ng movie ko about Badjaos for which I won the best actress award in Fantasporto Filmfest in Portugal, ‘Laut’. We will be staying mostly in Trecase, a coastal town in Sorrento, Italy na para raw yung famous Santorini sa Greece. The friendly Filipinos who offered to help us are based there, but we will also shoot in Venice and Rome.”
Direk Louie is excited to do the movie with Barbie. “It’ll be a very cool movie about millennials and OFW’s in Italy," he says. "Barbie will play the daughter of Lotlot de Leon who works for Anna Capri, who’s married to a rich Italian. Lotlot becomes the yaya of Anna’s son with an American, si Derrick nga. Barbie and Derrick will start as kids and grow up together, but they only get to interact through video call kapag kinakausap ni Barbie ang nanay niya. So, dito, ipapakita naming kahit magkakalayo ang parents from their kids, they can stay close kung gugustuhin nila, through video calls. Si Barbie rito, naiwan sa Pinas sa pangangalaga ng sister ni Lotlot, played by Matet de Leon. Wala ritong mga eksena ng madadramang sumbatan dahil nag-abroad yung magulang at lumaki ang anak na wala siya sa tabi nito. Later on, Barbie will also go to Italy at doon na rin sila magkikita in person ni Derrick. You’d think na sila na ang magiging magkasintahan after what they went though, but something will happen na siyang sasaksak sa puso ng viewer. Kaya nga ‘Almost a Love Story’ ang title. Di ko puedeng i-reveal kung ano, basta abangan nyo na lang pag pinalabas na ang movie.”

ALLEN DIZON CHALLENGED BY BATTERED HUSBAND ROLE IN 'LATAY', EXCITED TO PLAY JUDY ANN SANTOS' MUSLIM HUSBAND IN DANTE MENDOZA'S 'BAYANG MAGILIW'

ALLEN DIZON is paired with Judy Ann Santos for the first time in Cannes best director Dante Mendoza’s “Bayang Magiliw”, meant to be sent to prestigous filmfests abroad. They play a Muslim couple whose only child is afflicted with a terminal disease.  Allen is a soldier and while he is fighting in the war against terrorists, his own child is fighting for her life at their home.
“Ang ganda ng movie at ang galing ni Juday,” he says. “Ayaw ni Direk Dante na makitang umiiyak kami ni Juday, pero hindi namin mapigilan. This is my second movie with Direk Dante dahil tapos na rin naming i-shoot ang ‘The Right To Kill’ which is about extra judicial killings and where I play a cop naman.”
Allen has finished two other movies. “Bomba” is about an outcast of society and he plays a deaf-mute.  For his performance, he got the best actor award in the recent Warsaw International Filmfest. He has also wrapped up work for “Persons of Interest”, where he plays a blind cook accused of killing his own wife.
Both films are directed by Ralston Jover. He is now starting yet another movie with Ralston, “Latay”, produced by Mrs. Baby Go of BG Productions. He will play the battered husband of a manipulative and abusive woman. For the first time, Allen agreed to do a cross dressing scene. He was previously offered a similar role in “Bes and the Beshies” as Ai Ai de las Alas’ transsexual husband, but he nixed it.
“This time, hindi naman gay ang character ko,” he explains. “The opening scene shows the annual Aguman Sanduk Festival, or Fellowship of the Ladle, held in Minalin,  Pampanga on New Year’s Day. They’ve been holding this for over 80 years now. Minalin is a coastal town with lots of fishermen. It has 15 barangays and all the barangays are required to send representatives to the festival, not gays, but real men who dress in women’s clothes to entertain the womenfolk in their town. Opening scene ito sa movie and we will shoot it there on location this coming January 1, 2018. Di ko alam, pag uwi ko pala, bubugbugin ako ng asawa ko. This will show the psychology of a man who agrees to be manhandled by his wife. I’m a simpleminded man here na hindi masyadong kumikibo kaya my wife easily abuses me.”
So who will play his wife? “Secret pa.  Pero ngayon ko pa lang siya makakapareha. We will announce in January. Kasi she’s under contract with a big company at hinihintay pa niyang payagan siyang gumawa sa labas.”

The Jollibee team led by President JJ Allano (standing, 9th from left) and Global Brand Chief Marketing Officer and PH Marketing Head Francis Flores (seated, 2ndfrom right) team up with Miss Universe 2017 to bring joy to the children from the Kanlungan sa Er-Ma Ministry.
One week after yet another spectacular coronation night in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Miss Universe titleholders arrived in the Philippines for a weeklong tour of the country. One of the many activities lined up for the confidently beautiful women was a visit in one of the branches of Jollibee, the Philippines’ #1 fast-food chain, to help spread joy to kids in time for the Christmas season.

Together with Jollibee representatives and the Miss Universe Organization, the 15 titleholders including the reigning Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere and Miss Universe-Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters, among others, took time from their busy schedule to visit the Jollibee Biopolis branch in Diosadado Macapagal Avenue and spend the day with the children from the Kanlungan sa Er-Ma Ministry in Manila. Also present were Miss Universe Organization President Paula Shugart; Miss Universe Organization Vice President for Marketing Shawn McClain; Jollibee Philipines President JJ Alano and senior officials from Jollibee.

Each titleholder was paired with a young orphan child, where they bonded over Jollibee favorites like Chickenjoy, Jolly Spaghetti, Cheesy Yum Burger, Jolly Crispy Fries and Peach Mango Pies, shared stories and danced with the iconic Jollibee mascot. Afterwards, the Miss Universe titleholders gifted their sweet new friends with cute Jollibee huggable pillows.

“It’s wonderful to be back in the Philippines for the second time this year, and to be welcomed by the familiar hospitality of the Filipinos,” Miss Universe Organization President Paula Shugart said. “Our first visit to Jollibee, where we indulged in the locals’ kindness, laughter and the unforgettable Chickenjoy, left us with a very heart-warming experience. So there was no doubt for us to partner with Jollibee again while we’re here to spread more holiday cheer to the children and brighten up their day.”

The Miss Universe Organization is an advocate of positive change in the world, empowering young women to initiate advocacies in their local communities with the potential to reach a global audience.

“We are honored to have the opportunity to team up once again with the prestigious organization in bringing joy to the kids, and we’re especially grateful that these ladies took the time out of their busy schedules to spend time with them,” Jollibee Global Brand Chief Marketing Officer and PH Marketing Head Francis E. Flores said. “By partnering with Jollibee, we are able to share with this year’s titleholders a national icon which espouses Pinoy pride through our products, mascots and the special memories instilled in the hearts of every Filipino family. Being a values-centric brand, we believe that this experience will create a positive and lasting impact on the kids as they interact with role models who can inspire and empower them to become confidently beautiful inside out.”

Kanlungan sa Er-Ma Ministry is a non-profit organization based in Malate, Manila which provides street children the necessary care, love, protection, rehabilitation and education through first-aid, counselling, health and recreational activities, among others. Last January 2017, the Miss Universe 2016 candidates participated in a similar outreach activity with the children from the Concordia Children’s Services orphanage in Jollibee Blue Bay Walk.
