17-Year Old Blaster Silonga, The Electric Guitar Champion Of Marikina, Emerges As Top Winner Of 'Music Hero: Battle Of The Champions' In 'Eat Bulaga'

CONGRATULATIONS to 17-year old Blaster Silonga, the Electric Guitar Champion of Marikina, for being the top winner in the recent finale of "Music Hero: Battle of the Champions" contest of "Eat Bulaga". He bested out seven other finalists to win the title of Ultimate Music Hero, winning P500,000.

The other musicians who competed were Joaquin Rodrigo (Ultimate Drums Hero), Josh Espinosa (Ultimate ­Saxophone Hero), Zild Benitez (Ultimate Bass Guitar), ­Brian ­Feliciano (Ultimate Flute Hero), Radlee ­Lacquian (Ultimate Acoustic Guitar Hero), Jim Tan ­(Ultimate Keyboards Hero), and Dominique Casacop ­(Ultimate Violin Hero).

"I feel so humbled because I never expected to win," says Blaster. "Basta sumali ako just to enjoy playing and to have my kind of music be heard by the audience."

He played the song "If I Ain’t Got You" by ­Alicia Keys. “Maganda talaga ang message ng kanta. ­Favorite ko ‘yun, kahit noong bata pa lang ako. Ang lakas ng dating sa akin. Yung ‘If I Ain’t Got You,’ kay Lord ko po kinakanta ‘yan. Kahit anong meron ako ngayon, if I ain’t got si Lord, wala pa rin.”

Blaster is in Grade 11 at the Berean Crosspointe International School in Marikina City. He learned playing the electric guitar through YouTube videos. His musical idols are ­Michael Jackson, John Mayer, Eric Clapton and Paul Gilbert.
