Julie Anne San Jose has carved her own name in the entertainment industry since she joined the talent search, 'Popstar Kids' in 2005.
But as younger stars tread the path of other well-known celebrities, fans and showbiz columnists alike can't help but compare their achievements with their predecessors.
This is now a situation Julie Ann has to confront after winning the Silver Global Sound or second place in the 2017 International Song Contest: Global Sound for her original composition, "Tidal Wave".
The singer-model-actress went against other international artists like Lukas Graham, South Korean duo Davichi and Singaporean singer JJ Lin who teamed up with singer/songwriter G.E.M. from Hongkong.
Back in 2015, Sarah Geronimo won first place in the same competition for her song "Kilometro".
When told that her victory earned her the title as the "Sarah Geronimo of GMA-7", Asia's Pop Sweetheart responded, "Naku! Si Miss Sarah ay si Miss Sarah."
"Nakaka-proud nga kasi i think siya yung first ever na Pilipino na nanalo," she added.
Though she admits that the victory was unexpected, she said she's honored to have represented Philippine music in the international scene.
"So I just feel really blessed na nabigyan po ng recognition yung song ko, saka it's also nice na may na-contribute na naman po ang mga Pilipino sa music kaya sobrang thankful po ako."
Julie Anne stars in the GMA drama series 'Pinulot Ka Lang Sa Lupa' as Santina with her onscreen romance partner Benjamin Alves as Ephraim.
The show's finale will air on April 12.
