Direk Brillante Mendoza Comes Up With An All-Cebuano Cast For A Drama Special Based On The Kadaugan Sa Mactan Festival In Cebu To Honor Lapu-Lapu

DIREK BRILLANTE MENDOZA has come up with another touching film about motherhood and love rekindled in “Kadaugan”, to be shown in his TV5 monthly extravaganza, “Brillante Mendoza Presents”. This features the Cebuano event, Kadaugan sa Mactan, that relives the historic battle our first hero, Lapu-Lapu, fought with Spanish conquistador Magellan and his soldiers.

This TV special shows the never ending hope and faith in love of us Filipinos. The story revolves on a beautiful Cebuana, Tere (played by Dionne Monsanto), a young woman who single-handedly raises her five year-old son after being left broken hearted and abandoned by her foreign love interests. “Kadaugan” depicts the unfathomable resilience of the Filipinos despite the raging storms they encounter in their lives.

It is also a celebration of motherhood and a realistic depiction of family ties and hospitality among Filipinos. Supporting Dianne in “Kadaugan” are Juan Directions’ Daniel Marsh as Johann, and an all Cebuano supporting cast led by Cebu’s acclaimed mother and daughter team of fine actresses, the one and only Queen of Visayan movies, Gloria Sevilla as Mercy, and her eldest daughter, Suzette Ranillo as Chona, plus award-winning Cebuano actor Matt Daclan as Manny, PBB winner Keanna Reeves as Myrna and Albert Chan Paran as Tere’s boss.

Portraying the roots of Filipino traditions in courtship and family ties, “Kadaugan” is yet another trendsetting television masterpiece by Brillante Mendoza which reflects TV5’s strong commitment as a TV network in providing unique and more meaningful entertainment to our viewers. Catch “Brillante Mendoza Presents: Kadaugan” on July 30, after “Turning Point “on TV5.
