Last Year's Bb. Pilipinas Universe Maxine Medina Joins Showbiz & Is Officially Introduced In Jose Javier Reyes' Scary Horror Flick, 'Spirit Of The Glass 2, The Haunted'

MAXINE MEDINA, the enchanting 2016 Bb. Pilipinas Universe, has joined the movies. When she won, she said she’s not closing her doors on showbiz, and now, she’s officially being introduced in the horror flick, “Spirit of the Glass 2”. An interior designer and professional model, she represented our country in the Miss Universe Pageant held in Manila last January and was part of the Top 6 candidates.

The film’s director, Jose Javier “Joey” Reyes, says Maxine definitely shows a lot of promise as an actress and she was not left behind in her scenes with her more experienced co-stars. As a filmmaker, Joey Reyes is best known for the meaningful dramas about relationships he has done before, like “Iisa Pa Lamang”, “Minsan May Isang Puso”, “Mga Mumunting Lihim”, “May Minamahal”, “Katas ng Saudi”, all of which won acting awards for his players.

But Joey is also known for his macabre horror flicks that are big box office hits, like ”Malikmata”, “Kutob”, “Regal Shocker” (his personal favorite) and “Spirit of the Glass”, a Metro filmfest 2004 topgrosser which starred Dingdong Dantes, Rica Peralejo, Ciara Sotto, Jake Cuenca, Paolo Contis , Drew Arellano, Alessandra de Rossi and Marvin Agustin.

He’s now back with its sequel, “Spirit of the Glass 2: The Haunted”. The sequel has a brand new cast led by Cristine Reyes, Daniel Matsunaga, Enrico Cuenca, Benjamin Alves, Janine Gutierrez, Dominique Roque, Aaron Villaflor, Ashley Ortega, and Maxine who is officially introduced here and considers the movie a big break for her.

Produced by OctoArts Films led by Boss Orly Ilacad with T-Rex Productions, “Spirit of the Glass 2: The Haunted” is expected to equal, if not surpass, the screams generated by the first “Spirit of the Glass”. “The sequel is totally independent from the first movie,” says Joey. “But it also employs the same tropes of the first ‘Spirit’, that is, the discovery of an ouija board and the carelessness of opening the gateway of the ‘other world’ into the domain of the living. The characters are different but there are echoes of the original in terms of story structure.”

The new movie tells the story of friends Bea (Cristine), a lifestyle editor; Lisette (Ashley), an up and coming young actress; and Chelsea (Maxine), a popular model for mainstream and viral advertisin. They all became popular through social media and thus were known as the Instaglams. They’re all young and beautiful, but completely unaware that they would soon be trapped in the complicated world of the supernatural because of an Ouija board that Bea inherited from her grandaunt.

Together with their boyfriends, the three girls unwittingly opened the gates of the other world for three spirits to connect with them when they decided to play with the Ouija Board allowing disturbed souls to seek justice for a crime committed 50 years ago. And then, the haunting begins. So be prepared to scream your hearts out when the movie opens in theaters nationwide on Todos Los Santos, November 1, a most fitting playdate for those who enjoy watching scary movies.
