Matthias Rhoads Enjoying Working With 'Super Ma'am' As Everyone Is Friendly And Accommodating

MATTHIAS RHOADS is having the time of his life playing Marian Rivera’s leading man in “Super Ma’am”. He has really come a long way from his former office job as an insurance broker in New York City. “The Filipino community then was looking for someone to be their Lapu Lapu in the Las Islas Filipinas float for the Philippine Independence Day street parade in Madison Ave. and I volunteered as I’m half Filipino,” he says. “Little did I know that it would open new doors for me. So many people wanted to take their photo with me and it was fun. Then the photos were posted on social media and I quickly gained so many fans who urged me to go to Manila and try my luck in showbiz.”

Matthias is named after the disciple of Jesus who took the place of Judas Iscariot who hanged himself after betraying the Messiah. Standing 5’10” and with a muscular physigue, he is a Fine Arts graduate from the Savannah College of Arts in Georgia. In high school, he trained in acting and doing Broadway musicals at the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts.

He has also been inclined to acting so when his Filipino friends urged him to come to Manila and try his luck in local showbiz, he obliged and landed the role of the groom in the fastfood commercial that made him famous. Then GMA-7 signed him up and the rest, as they say, is history.

So how is it working with the cast and crew of “Super Ma’am”? “It’s a great way to start a showbiz career because everyone is friendly and accommodating. They know I’m a newcomer and they’re all willing to help me to do my job well. Marian is so friendly and understanding. She even offered to teach how to deliver my Tagalog lines correctly. It’s now my responsibility to give my best so they won’t be disappointed with me. I play an archaeologist who goes to their town to do research on mythical creatures called Tamawo, not knowing I will be encountering a lot of fantastic experiences while I’m there. I’m really having the time of my life doing ‘Super Ma’am’.”
