As per Stefan Bondy of New York Daily News:
Kristaps Porzingis might’ve hurt his hand in a bloody brawl that severely injured one of his friends.

According to Latvian publication Latvijas Avize – which obtained an audio file recounting the events — Porzingis and his buddies were leaving a bar in his hometown of Leipaja on Sunday when a “local gang” attacked the group. One of Porzingis’ friends temporarily lost his pulse as a result of the beat down, according to the report, and another was hit from behind with a metal chair.

Porzingis suffered a cut near his eye and “may have broken his hand,” the report stated. The aftermath was caught on video and showed the 7-foot-3 Porzingis bleeding from the head and hand, pushing away a woman who was trying to hold him back, and ultimately being stopped by police while yelling at a group not seen in the video.

According to Latvijas Avize, the attackers had just been kicked out of a bar and confronted Porzingis’ group as it left that same bar. The friend who lost his pulse was revived by a “passerby.” TMZ reported that Porzingis fought a “handful” of Russians who were upset that he left the Knicks.
